Position Overview:

Biloxi and surrounding areas are one of the fastest growing markets in the state of Alabama, and you will hit the ground running, but not on your own. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a practice with a pediatric ophthalmologist, a large referral base, and an academic affiliation with the University of South Alabama.

The ideal candidate will be experienced in conducting eye exams, diagnosing, and treating various eye conditions in children and possess excellent communication skills and works collaboratively with our team of healthcare professionals. Furthermore, you will love working with us if you are interested in applying the newest technologies and trends within our field.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive eye exams and diagnostics for pediatric patients, including infants, children, and adolescents.
  • Diagnose and manage a wide range of pediatric eye conditions including, refractive errors, strabismus, amblyopia, and ocular diseases.
  • Prescribe and fit eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other vision aids for pediatric patients.
  • Perform specialized pediatric vision assessments and screenings.
  • Collaborate and market to pediatricians, ophthalmologists, and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated care for patients with complex eye and vision issues.
  • Educate parents and caregivers on pediatric eye health and vision care, including proper eyeglasses and contact lens care.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records
  • Stay up to date on the latest advancements in pediatric optometry and participate in continuing education activities.

Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited optometry school.
  • State licensure as an optometrist and eligibility for DEA registration
  • Residency or specialized training in pediatric optometry is preferred
  • Strong clinical skills and experience in pediatric eye care
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to patient-centered care and ethical medical practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multispecialty eye care practice.
