Dr. Mark M. Zimmer O.D., P.C. is a single doctor private practice located in northeast Iowa. In 1992, fresh out of optometry school, Dr. Zimmer purchased a practice in Independence, Iowa that was dwindling since the optometrist had died. That same year he quickly expanded to the neighboring town of Oelwein with a cold start and began growing his practice at these two locations. Both locations grew steadily and at 32 years old this practice still retains its growth potential. In January of 2024 Dr. Zimmer, now ready to retire, closed the Oelwein location, not because it was failing, but because he wanted to slow down. When it closed, the Oelwein location was still receiving calls from new patients wishing to schedule. Oelwein is now left with only one optometrist, a town that boasted 3-4 optometrists in the past. Many of Dr. Zimmer’s patients followed him to his Independence office, but would be happy to be seen in Oelwein again if an office was reopened. The Independence office has a loyal patient base which is heavily medically based. The practice has good relationships with quality ophthalmology practices in the neighboring cities of Waterloo/Cedar Falls, Cedar Rapids and University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City.

Dr. Zimmer has decided to sell the practice based on current inventory and supplies, and the cost of any equipment the new doctor wishes to retain. Patient records are included in this price. The office building is also available if there is an interest.
